Supporting and protecting the rights of individuals living in long-term care facilities

Older residents of long term care facilities are guaranteed certain rights related to their health, safety, rights and welfare. If you feel your rights or the rights of another older nursing home or assisted living facility resident are being violated, the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program can help. The Ombudsman Program identifies, investigates and resolves problems of older residents (age 60 and older) of nursing homes, assisted living facilities and other long term care facilities and advocates on their behalf. Salt Lake County Aging Services' Ombudsman Program also investigates complaints in long term care facilities in Tooele County.
Ombudsman staff can also assist you with finding a facility for your loved one and provide you with information related to Medicaid eligibilty and other financial concernes.
